In 2013, Byron Graham came up with the idea to build a chicken coop. He purchased the necessary materials and a couple of hens to produce eggs to get his project going. Having had a garden since the age of 10 and farm animals in his early teens, the process of building his own coop came very natural to him. Byron loved the idea of having backyard access to fresh, organic food and so he began to further develop his coop idea by planting vegetable seeds throughout his property.
Today, COOP'd UP is a well sized farm in Pomona. With the farm comes a gorgeous back house, in which guests are invited to stay through the Airbnb program. When people check-in to Byron's farm experience, they are given the option to learn more about the benefits of having one's own produce. Furthermore, they are able to "taste the goods". Byron hopes to have his own local store one day and provide healthy eating options to his beloved city.
