Oakland artist C5 wrote his first rap in the 7th grade. The song was called Strapped Up and it was inspired by a mixture of artists like Lil Wayne, as well as C5's experiences growing up in his neighborhood. While the subject matter of his middle school rhymes isn't something he would necessarily glorify today, the gratification he received from producing music during that time inspired him to find a career in hip hop. Today, C5's music touches on his ups and downs in life as a way to inspire young adults to push through adversity. He truthfully talks about his plight in Oakland, his ups and downs as a student and his determination to become better every single day. Whether it be at his job, his internship or in his home studio- C5 breathes, thinks, and lives hip hop.
