In his early twenties, Guillermo Zapata left Buenos Aires, Argentina to vacation in the City of Angels. Having already earned a degree from the Argentinean National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, young Guillermo was more than familiar with the opportunities Los Angeles had to offer and was excited to be in the midst of it all. After completing the long-awaited task of taking a photo next to the famous Hollywood sign, Zapata began to question returning home. Although he had his life pretty much set in Buenos Aires and was already a well-known actor in that region, he knew that Los Angeles was where he needed to be.
With no money and a small list of English words in his vocabulary, Guillermo began his job search. He reached out to a few people who spoke his native language and was able to secure a job as a dish washer at a well-respected restaurant. While most people would refuse to go from known actor to dish washer, Zapata happily jumped at the offer. Over the span of five years, he worked his way up to the position of restaurant manager. People in the industry took notice of his unbeatable work ethic and he was eventually approached with the idea of taking over SUR. There wasn't much money to be made and a lot of work to be done at the time, but Guillermo did what he does best- he recognized the opportunity and went after it.
What's most amazing about the native Argentinian is his kindness towards others and willingness to help. During his transition, he made sure to set up his long-time friend and cook with a position at SUR and began to create an atmosphere where staff members could succeed in all areas of life. Now that SUR is a well-oiled machine, Guillermo has more time to focus on his first love: acting. He is currently producing and acting in numerous projects and couldn't be happier with the life he has created.
